I primarily practice from a psychodynamic & relational perspective.
This means that I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a primary instrument of change, allowing you to explore, learn, and metabolize new ways of being in relationship to yourself and to others.
We begin by establishing a safe, trustworthy, non-judgmental space to explore and identify emotions and events that may be difficult to address. I believe it is important to honor and have compassion for the ways that we have learned to cope, and the purposes they have served for us. When we are able to investigate our early wounds and other areas of distress in a safe & relational space, we are able to reflect on why certain ways of thinking & being have worked for us as a means to function and survive.
We then collaborate on and learn new ways of coping, thinking, and being, that contribute to healthier ways of being in relationship to ourselves and to others. Gaining insight about who we are helps to improve the quality of our lives.
Everyone has the potential to tap into their inner wisdom, to know their values, to recognize their strengths, and to have the opportunity to thrive. It would be a privilege to accompany you on that path.
